Mathematics

The Judkins Mathematics Department provides the following courses for students:

• 7th Math
• 7th Math Accelerated
• 8th Math
• Algebra I
• 7th Opportunity Math
• 8th Opportunity Math

Each course emphasizes extensive mathematical thinking and communication.  Students are encouraged to draw upon unifying ideas as they explore various mathematical themes such as patterns and proportional relationships.  Students will also be encouraged to use tools (i.e. calculators) and techniques (i.e. problem solving strategies) appropriately and efficiently. The Mathematics Department encourages students and parents to review the Common Core State Standards so that everyone becomes familiarized with the mathematics courses.  We have implemented new textbooks that are Common Core aligned from Big Ideas Math.  MAP assessment results determine placements in all courses.
