Social Studies

Students will be studying the following curriculum in the Judkins Social Studies courses as defined by the California Common Core State Standards:

  • 7th graders study the Medieval Era up to the Early Modern World (1789), including the study of influential world religions
  • 8th graders study United States history from 1783-1914

One of the goals of the Social Studies Department is to explore the constant link between the past and present. Students will conduct research reports and special history projects, book reports, as well as participate in a wide variety of interesting activities.  Current events and geography are studied as a vital part of the department curriculum. Grading policies, homework, and make-up assignments will vary with each teacher.  Parents are encouraged to become familiar with the requirements of their child’s teacher.
