Today begins Black History Month, an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. This month 8th grade AVID has highlighted Historically Black Colleges and Universities, or HBCUs. Read and learn about the many amazing schools and the people who attended HBCUs. Next week you will learn more about the colleges.

Students,come to the Tables at Break today to get Respect Scans for participating in Thursday PRIDE Activities! Team Spirit Participation Points will be given at the end of February. Come support your team!

Friday is also Anything but a Backpack Day! Get creative! But please remember that your non-backpack may NOT be alive or in violation of the student code of conduct. Spirit colors will be counted as well.

Dance this Friday Feb 2nd. The Theme is Winter vs. Spring in honor of Groundhog Day. Dress up in cool winter attire or warm spring attire. Tickets are on sale and cost $5. Pizza, drinks, and dessert included with your ticket.

Remember the focus until Feb 28 is RESPECT. Teachers, be on the lookout for Students showing off their respect! Rewarding good character with SCANS is how Panthers Rock!

The dance has been moved to Feb 2nd. Tickets will go on sale next monday Jan 29th. More information to come.

Panthers Great job participating in the RESPECT Activity at Break yesterday! Not only did you get 2 Scans, but your Spirit Team will get Points too! So far Paws and Pride are tied with 11 students. Prowlers had 7 students participate and Predators had 1. Come show your RESPECT next Thursday for more Scans and Spirit Points!

Would you like to audition for the next school musical? Judkins and Mesa Middle Schools are coming together to perform Disney’s Finding Nemo Jr. at the Clark Center on May 10th and 11th! Rehearsals will be after-school only, so all Judkins students are invited to audition! Initial vocal auditions will be held Wednesday, the 24th, in the Judkins MPR. You must check in with Mrs. Geyer in the MPR, at lunch or after school this week if you hope to audition. Good luck Panthers!
