October 1st begins LGBTQ+ History Month. It is a month-long celebration of the history of the diverse community and the importance of civil rights movements in progressing gay rights. The observance was created by Rodney Wilson, a history teacher at a Missouri high school, in 1994. The following year, LGBTQ+ History Month was added to the list of commemorative months in a resolution forwarded by the General Assembly of the National Education Association. October was chosen as the month of observance as National Coming Out Day already existed as a holiday on October 11 and the anniversary of the first march for gay rights in Washington took place on October 14, 1979. Please enjoy reading the biographies of the interesting and creative individuals we should recognize this month.

Leadership is making a kudos wall which are compliments that you have for the school or for someone. They must be school appropriate comments. It will be in front of the office at lunch this week.

This month 8th grade AVID created a bulletin board for Hispanic Heritage Month. Now that you've had all month to read the board, test your knowledge with a Kahoot created by 7th grade AVID and help your team win spirit points during Advisory today. Good Luck Panthers!

Congratulations to the 7th grade girls volleyball team for their win over Laguna yesterday! Both Audree and Frannie were selected as players of the game for their outstanding play.

There is an optional cross country practice after school today to practice for the famous mountain goat race next Saturday!

We are done giving warnings about chewing gum. If you are caught chewing gum you will automatically get detention.

We have calculated our first Spirit Points from the Neon Dress Up Day and the Fall Assembly: In Fourth Place we have the Paws with 170 points. Tied for 2nd place is Pride and Predators with 190 points! And in First Place with 280 points is the Prowlers! Way to go everyone!
